OCPA’s new data tool makes finding information on public education revenue and expenditures easy. For instance, Burlington School District’s per-pupil spending in 2015 was $30,152. Using the tool, I was also able to find that my family’s district, Deer Creek, in the same year spent $10,637 per student.
Recently highlighted in The Oklahoman, this easy-to-read tool is on our website, but the data comes directly from the Oklahoma Cost Accounting System and the Oklahoma Department of Education.
As you have conversations about improving education in your community, I hope this data tool helps you find and understand the facts. We all want the students in our public schools to succeed, and this tool puts the necessary data at our fingertips when discussing the future of education in Oklahoma.
