WALTERS CITY COUNCIL MEETING

AUGUST 01, 2017

The Walters City Council met in regular session at 5:00 p.m. on August 01, 2017 in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall. Those present were Mayor David Mitchell; Councilmen Bob Nance, Steve McCammon and Richard Anderson; City Manager Shawn Strange; City Attorney Hyman Copeland; and Deputy City Clerk Sheri Davis. Vice Mayor Roberta Ellis and City Clerk Dollie Glenn were absent.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

Mayor David Mitchell opened the meeting with prayer.

Visitors present were former Municipal Judge Gerald Hayes, Accounts Payable Clerk Karla Eschiti, Street Superintendent Johnny Skinner and spouse Lisa, Wes Eidson, Edith Kitchen and Monty Powers.

Item #3—Bob Nance made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Richard Anderson seconded the motion. The vote was:

Ayes: Mitchell, Nance, McCammon, Anderson

Nays: None

(a) Approval of July 18, 2017 regular City Council meeting minutes.

(b) Approval of purchase orders and signing of checks for all City funds presented at the 08-01-17 council meeting and ratification of routine checks subsequent to the 07-18-17 regular council meeting.

Item #4—Steve McCammon made a motion to approve the REAP grant Application to oil and chip streets in the city limits, Capital Needs Summary, 5 Year Plan; In-Kind Leverage; and $5,000 cash leverage. Richard Anderson seconded the motion. The vote was:

Ayes: Mitchell, Nance, McCammon, Anderson

Nays: None

Item #5—Chamber of Commerce Vice-Chairman, Wes Eidson stated he needs help from the City to help with barricades, hanging flags and setting the stage. He also stated that Broadway needs to be closed from Missouri to Nevada for the Annual Car Cruz on October 7th . Bob Nance made a motion to assist with the Car Cruz. Steve McCammon seconded the motion. The vote was:

Ayes: Mitchell, Nance, McCammon, Anderson

Nays: None

Item #6—Richard Anderson made a motion to acknowledge that the Walters Public Library did not have their quarterly meeting. Steve McCammon seconded the motion. The vote was:

Ayes: Mitchell, Nance, McCammon, Anderson

Nays: None

Item #7—Deputy City Clerk stated that the Accounts Payable Clerk gave each of them the Check Register to review the checks to be signed tonight. Clerk gave the city council the Cash Report showing how much money is on the books after the checks for tonight. No action taken.

Item #8—(a) City Manager Shawn Strange stated that he and Accounts Payable Clerk Karla Eschiti met with FEMA on past and current disasters that were turned in. There was no other new business.
