June 13, 2017 General Meeting Minutes
Officers present: President Benne Brewer, Apache Hotel and Casino; Vice-president Tim Hushbeck, AEP/PSO
Members and visitors present: Nate Meraz, Elgin Public Schools; Emily Poindexter, The Chronicle;
Matthew Brown, Edward Jones; Sarah Head, United way of Southwest Oklahoma; Debbie Thomason, Debbie’s Little Books; Tom Crimmins; Kevin Anderson, Elgin Rodeo; Eric Hays, Liberty National Bank; Tammie Reynolds, Elgin Public Schools; Eric Walker, Walker Paint & Body
Meeting called to order at 12:00 by President Benne Brewer.
Invocation by Nate Meraz.
Introduction of Emily Poindexter representing The Chronicle. Eric Walker with Walker Paint & Body. Walker Paint & Body offers paintless dent repair (hail damage) and collision work.
Nate Meraz motioned to approve the minutes from the May 9, 2017 meeting. Kevin Anderson seconded the motion. Unanimous approval.
Tim Hushbeck motioned to approve the financial report from May 2017. Tammie Reynolds seconded. Unanimous approval.
The members were reminded to drop off items for the welcome bags.
Members were reminded to send/drop off artwork for the directory.
Kevin Anderson spoke about the upcoming Elgin Rodeo. Handouts were given regarding sponsorship opportunities. The rodeo is in need of bleachers. If any business/individual would like to donate them, they will receive a permanent plaque and a banner for 5 years. The rodeo supports the community with the Elgin Fire Department running the concession stand, cheerleaders doing fundraisers, and girl scouts doing clean-up. Sponsorship paperwork is available in the Chamber office.
Kevin Anderson requests for members in attendance to introduce themselves to the new members in attendance. He also requests to bring this practice back during monthly meetings.
Benne Brewer reminds members that Apache Hotel & Casino will be having Chubby Checker, The Commodores, and Survivor as part of their concert series.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:22 by President Benne Brewer.
